GENESIS OF SDG TRUST

The CSR Trust for SDGs in India will support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in India utilizing Corporate Social Responsibility. The mechanism in new and independent of the UN. However, in line with the UN mandate to support Agenda 2030 for sustainable development, the UN will support the SDG Trust through strategic advice, particularly in the first two years of operation.

OBJECTIVE

  • To leverage partnerships and collaborations to support the achievement of the SDGs in India.
  • Provide a platform for corporates to optimize their CSR spend in alignment with India’s priorities on the SDGs.
  • To facilitate tracking and monitoring of CSR funds against their impact on the SDGs.

TRUST GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The India SDG Trust is an independence Trust governed by an independent Board of Trustees.

The Board consists of eminent members like Mr Shankar Venkateswaran- ex-Head TATA Sustainability, Mrs Arundhati Bhattacharya -Ex SBI Chairperson and Mr Karunesh Bhalla former Director Ethics-UNDP.

The Governing Body of the Trust is headed by Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee-widely known as the father of Indian CSR while Rashi Jain, former Corporate Partnership Lead in WaterAid acts as the General Secretary.
